Given all the temptations I was subjected to today, I can say Day #1 fared pretty well.
I forgot to weigh myself this morning before breakfast. After breakfast I weighed 137lb.
I started the day in my yoga class; by the end of the class I was already feeling a bit lightheaded as I had skipped dinner last night. The Broccoli and Sundried Tomato Scramble was delicious after the intense yoga practice.
Shortly after breakfast, a friend and I went for an hour-long walk in the 90F weather outside – further pressure on my energy-depleted body. Around noon I had my first snack – Morrocan Chicken Stew. Yum. A couple of hours later I finally had my lunch – Mexican Chicken Caesar Salad. At 2.45pm I was out again, running some errands and taking care of some appointments. I managed to scarf down the second snack – Nut Balls, while waiting for my first appointment, around 3.30pm.
Then, the canon ball hit: tonight was my book club meeting which took place at a rather nice restaurant in Culver City. It was hard, but then it wasn’t, watching everybody order their Malbecs, and turkey sliders and mac-n-cheeses. I took out my Fish with Lemon, Capers and Rosemary. I had to eat it cold as apparently the policy of the restaurant prohibited any foreign food from entering the kitchen. Oh, well. I actually enjoyed it cold as well.
A couple of hours later, as I am writing this, I am not hungry, and although I do have a clear visual of the coffee ice cream pint on the back of my eyelids, I am doing fine.
Note to self and to other detox aspirants: Check your calendar for important dinners and other social events, and plan your detox program around them. Tomorrow Hubbyloo and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary. Horrible planning on my part.
